Rules for knowing a little about cheque writing
- 1. Write the date in month, day, year format (e.g. March 13, 2019).
- 2. You may post-date a cheque if you want it cashed only after that date.
- 3. The amount in the dollar box must match the amount written in words.
- 4. On the legal line, draw a line after the last word to prevent alterations.
- 5. The memo line is optional (e.g. "School Fee").
- 6. If you make a mistake, write VOID across the cheque and destroy it.
- 7. Ensure your account has sufficient funds to cover the payment.
